208-825 Advanced Viticulture Techniques
After completion of this subject students should be able to:
- use advanced analytical and field-based techniques to determine fruit composition; and formulate yield and quality management approaches to optimise grower returns ;
- measure aspects of soil and plant water, plant nutrition and weather to propose methods to manipulate grapevine capacity and fruit quality;
- research and apply precision management techniques to site selection, vineyard establishment and vineyard management situations; and,
Undertake vineyard risk assessments to formulate resultant action plans to operate vineyard enterprises within a sustainable environmental management framework.
This subject is delivered flexibly involving printed learning material and attendance at one 5-day compulsory residential school held at the Dookie Campus of the University of Melbourne.
