Terence Wong, writer and wine educator in Hong Kong
My passion of wine started when I was 18 and I always wanted to own a vineyard and make my own wine.
About twenty years ago, I started writing in the media in Hong Kong about food and wine. After working in the IT industry for 15 years, I decided to pursue something that I am passionate about, the wine industry. I would not take the plunge without the wine education I have been receiving at Melbourne university.
The graduate certificate subjects have provided me very good foundation knowledge on site selection, wine growing operation and wine making. The knowledge on these subjects make other advanced subjects in the Graduate diploma and Masters courses more interesting and rewarding.
The residential blocks require good time management and personal commitment but they are very valuable experience. Most sessions are hands-on on the vineyard and laboratory exercises. They really compliment the study materials, making the course quite practical and not entirely having a focus on research sciences.
